On April 15, the College of Technology launched its Petroleum Industry Experts Lecture Series by hosting a luncheon at the M.D. Anderson Library’s Elizabeth D. Rockwell Pavilion. Approximately 100 people attended the event which featured a lecture on the Digital Oilfield as presented by Dr. David Archer, vice president of Petris Technology, Inc. and former president and CEO of the Petrotechnical Open Standards Consortium.

Archer’s enlightening presentation took a thorough look at the state of the petroleum industry and offered insight on why the time is now right for digital oilfield technology to be readily integrated into more areas of the business. He also discussed a broad range of energy-related software systems that are being adopted by industry and how their integration will reduce costs and add value.

The Petroleum Industry Expert Lecture Series is planned to be a twice annual event that will provide UH students, faculty and industry partners with the opportunity to hear about current issues and new technologies directly from current petroleum industry managers, executives and technology leaders. The cost of this year’s series has been underwritten by a generous donation from Halliburton.
