Partnering for a Brighter Future

Dean ImagePartnership between educational institutions and industry is vital to the growth of our community. Specifically, universities benefit from such partnerships by providing educational resources to students, new labs, scholarships, business forums, speakers, connection to industry, industry feedback, and so forth. Industry, especially in the Houston community, influence the leaders of tomorrow through their involvement in academic advisory boards, gifts to academic program, participation in career fairs, and support of student organizations. For this reason, I am committed to building partnerships with industry, alumni and donors. more

Start Your Engines!

FSAE Car ImageDesigning, building, testing and ultimately racing a Formula One car in the 2007 Formula SAE (FSAE) Competition has become a project for seventeen students at the College of Technology. Together, they have built a car from the ground up in hopes of winning a national competition that has historically grown to become one of the most anticipated competitions for engineering students across the nation. more

College Receives Largest Scholarship Gift in History

Endowment ImageFor years to come, new students will be able to attend the College of Technology thanks to a $200,000 endowment gift that will help provide additional scholarship opportunity to students. Frances E. Smith created the Paul G. Smith, Jr. endowment in memory of her son and college alumnus Paul Giles Smith, Jr. ('63), which was to be awarded to the college upon her passing. Early last year, Frances Smith passed away and surprised the college by naming them in her trust and awarding the college the largest scholarship gift in history. more
