Societies for Academic Excellence

Membership in scholastic student organizations is an academic honor and
is attained by invitation only.
Delta Pi Epsilon
An honor society for graduate students
who are interested in furthering the goals of education for and about
business through leadership, research and cooperation within business
education. Prospective members must have completed eight semester hours
beyond the bachelor's degree and have an overall 3.00 cumulative grade
point average.
Omicron Tau Theta
A national professional graduate honor
society in vocational-technical education established to acknowledge outstanding
leaders in education, business, and industry. Eligibility for membership
requires a bachelor's degree, completion of at least eight hours of graduate
work with a GPA of at least 3.00, and evidence of a graduate major in
MSOT.
Phi Upsilon Omicron
An honor society for students majoring
in Human Development and Consumer Sciences. Prospective
members must have earned 42 semester hours (12 semester hours in residence)
with a minimum 3.00 cumulative grade point average.
Pi Omega Pi
An honor society for Information
Systems Technology majors who are interested in furthering the goals
of education for and about business. Prospective members must have completed
15 semester hours in the discipline with a minimum 3.00 cumulative grade
point average.
Sigma Lambda Chi(SLC)
The international honor society for students in the Construction Management program in the CoT Department of Engineering Technology. Prospective members must have attained at least Junior class standing and have completed at least 24 hours of credit at the University of Houston. Students must also have successfully completed MECT 2354 (Intro to Mechanics or Engineering Mechanics) and be ranked within the current top 15 percent of Construction Management students.
Tau Alpha Pi
The honor society for engineering technology majors who have completed
a minimum of 24 semester hours in the department of
Engineering
Technology. Students must have maintained a minimum 3.30 grade point
average at the University of Houston.
