Technology Project Management

Global Accreditation Center - Project Management InstituteThe Master of Science (M.S.) in Technology Project Management (TPM) comprises an M.S. degree in project management with an emphasis in a directed area of study. The degree plan for a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Technology Project Management is designed specifically to prepare individuals with undergraduate degrees in technology disciplines for responsible leadership roles in the technology-based and information-based workplaces. The core courses provide in-depth preparation in project management skills. Being able to plan and manage technology-based projects is an increasingly important skill for those with a technical background. The directed area of study allows graduate students the opportunity to focus on a directed area of study.

Technology Project Management - Information Systems Security

The Master of Science (M.S.) in Technology Project Management - Information Systems Security (TPM-ISS) comprises an M.S. degree in project management with an emphasis in Information Systems Security. The degree plan for a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Technology Project Management is designed specifically to prepare individuals with undergraduate degrees in technology disciplines for responsible leadership roles in the technology-based and information-based workplaces. The core courses provide in-depth preparation in project management skills. Being able to plan and manage technology projects is an increasingly important skill for those with a technical background. The Information Systems Security specialization equips technology professionals to assess the security needs of information and network systems and then to manage the implementation and maintenance of the recommended security solutions.

Technology Project Management - Logistics Technology

The Master of Science (M.S.) in Technology Project Management - Logistics Technology (TPM-LTE) comprises an M.S. degree in project management with an emphasis in Logistics Technology. The degree plan for a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Technology Project Management is designed specifically to prepare individuals with undergraduate degrees in technology disciplines for responsible leadership roles in the technology-based and information-based workplaces. The core courses provide in-depth preparation in project management skills. Being able to plan and manage technology projects is an increasingly important skill for those with a technical background. It is designed for the professional who seeks advanced preparation in logistics, inventory management, transportation, sales, and procurement. Core courses focus on the development of project management skills that are designed to prepare graduates for responsible leadership roles in technology- and information-based workplaces. Course topics in the area of emphasis include distribution evaluation, multi-national distribution, distribution strategies, and procurement strategies. Students also complete six additional hours of elective coursework.

Certificate in Professional Project Management - PMI

The goal of the Certificate in Professional Project Management - PMI is to provide a high level exposure to the theory and practice of project management. The program is offered through the College of Technology as a two course sequence. This comprehensive program prepares participants to handle the full scope of project management and to pass the highly respected Project Management Institute's Project Management Professional (PMP) certification course.

Concentration elective in Professional Project Management

A two or three semester course sequence is available for UH graduate students with interest in this topic. This option will be custom tailored to meet the individual graduate requirements. One option will be to achieve the Project Management Institute's PMP certification, which also requires the candidate to meet the PMI experience requirements by completion of the sequence and approval by the program coordinator. Other more general options are available to fit various backgrounds. The option is appropriate for all graduate majors, including Business, Engineering, Medical, and Social Sciences.
