Program Overview

The Engineering Technology Department of the UH College of Technology and the Mechanical Engineering Department of the UH Cullen College of Engineering are pleased to offer a 10 week summer undergraduate research experience sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF). There will be 8 projects on sensor networks and security infrastructure sponsored by 9 dedicated faculty. The program starts on May 26, 2008 and ends on August 2, 2008.

The program will choose 12 promising undergraduate students who will enjoy the following benefits.

  • Work in the most ethnically diverse research university in the nation
  • Participate in one of 8 outstanding research projects
  • Attend weekly workshops on research methods, research ethics, project management and related issues
  • Attend field trips to high-tech companies and research institutions in the Houston area
  • Receive a $4,000 stipend for the 10-week duration of the project, in addition to a one-time $1,250 for housing, $15/day for meals for 50 days, and $300 for a travel allowance
