Summer Undergraduate Research

Sensor Networks and Security Infrastructure

Program Overview

The Engineering Technology Department of the UH College of Technology and the Mechanical Engineering Department of the UH Cullen College of Engineering are pleased to offer a 10 week summer undergraduate research experience for qualified students sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF). There will be several projects on sensor networks, security infrastructure, and related topics sponsored by 10 dedicated faculty. Tentativel program starts on June 1, 2009 and ends on August 7, 2009.

  • The program will choose 12 promising undergraduate students to work in the most ethnically diverse research university in the nation.
  • Participate in one of several outstanding research projects
  • Offer weekly workshops on research methods, research ethics, project management and related issues
  • Offer field trips to high-tech companies and research institutions in the Houston area
  • Receive a $4,000 stipend for the 10-week duration of the project, in addition to a one-time $1,250 for housing, $15/day for meals, and $300 for a travel allowance
