The University of Houston ATT Technology Lab
Located in the University of Houston's College of Technology, the UH ATT Technology Lab (also known as the UH ATT Lab) was inaugurated in November 14, 2006 (see inauguration). The UH ATT Lab was the result of more than two years of collaboration between the University of Houston and Southwestern Bell Communications, Inc (now AT&T, Inc. ) in the areas of telecommunications, networks, and education. The purpose of the Lab is to serve as a hub for the international educational and research community and to facilitate the exchange of ideas and information. To achieve its goals, the Uh ATT Lab has been equipped with state-of-the-art networking and communications equipment which include a campus-wide three-node SONET/MPLS and gigaethernet testbed that connects four UH research labs to regional and international research networks, wireless internet, and high-definition videoconferencing.
University of Houston College of Technology Network
April 2008: The University of Houston College of Technology Telecommunications Network, with the collaboration of UH Network Services (UH-IT), The Texas Learning and Computational Center (TLCC) and our partner AT&T, has been successfully connected its network testbed to regional and international research networks such as Lonestar Education and Research Network (LEARN), National Lambda Rail (NLR) and Internet2. This connectivity enables the University of Houston and more especifically faculty of the College of Technology to expand research and training initiatives. The UH CoT Telecom Network, which links research labs such as the Intelligent Sensor Grid and Informatics (ISGRIN), Intelligent Smart Sensor Networks (ISSnet), Wireless and Optical Networking (WON) and the UH ATT Labs, provides 1 Gbps, and soon 10Gbps, connectivity to the high-speed fiber optic networks. For more information about the network go to the network page or contact the system administrator Sergio Chacon.
