The office of Lab Management of the University of Houston's College of Technology was created in the Fall of 2004. More than thirty laboratories are taught every semester in Computer Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, and Construction Technology. Almost every lecture has a lab that goes with it. The laboratories consist of the latest and most modern equipment, hardware and software available. Students taking beginning and advanced labs get the chance to get hands-on experience and training from the most qualified faculty and lab assistants.Lab managers have the responsibility of making it all happen in the laboratories with the support of our faculty and lab assistants.

 

Among the responsibilities of Lab Managers:

*Select, trains, and coordinates Engineering Technology Laboratory (ETL) instructional assistants.

*Schedules, monitors, and evaluates ETL instructional assistants.

*Recommends ETL course material development, maintenance, and upgrades to faculty.

*Coordinates lecture and laboratory course materials with instructional assistants and faculty.

*Assists faculty in equipment proposal development.

*Assists students with capstone projects.

*Manages lab kits ordering and distribution to students.

*Develops industry-sponsored undergradute and graduate laboratory projects.

*Evaluates equipment and software for use in undergraduate and graduate laboratories.

*Provides workshop training sessions for faculty and lab assistants as needed.

*Engages in laboratory instruction under faculty supervision.
