Creating a Presentation on WebCT/Wimba

First, prepare Powerpoint slides for your presentation.

Then set your screen resolution to 1024 x 768.
Right-click on the desktop and select "Properties".




On the "Settings" tab set the "Screen area" slider to 1024 x 768.




Log-in to UH WebCT




Select "TEPM6391".




Select "Presentations".





Select "Enter this Room".



In the pop-up window select "Run_Wizard".



The Wizard will pause at "Signed_Applet", click "Next".




The Windows OS will display a warning (the one below is for W2K Pro).
Check the "Always trust..." box and then "Run".




Next an audio player will be loaded. When you hear the greeting, click "Next".




The Wizard next runs a test of your microphone. Speak into your mic and the wizard will
echo your voice. Then click "Next".




OK! You are all set up and ready to record your presentation. Click "Launch!"




Wimba will now go through some gyrations and finally display a "Welcome" screen.




We now are ready to upload the Powerpoint slides to Wimba.
Click the "Import" icon that is to the right of the "Go" icon.




An "Import" screen will be displayed.




Browse to your Powerpoint file and click "Import".




After the import has completed, close the window.




The "Live Classroom" window will now show the uploaded file.




Click on the first slide in the slide list to set up the presentation.
Then during the presentation you will click on each suceeding slide as needed.




Now, that the slides are ready, we want to add audio to create a presentation.
First, activate the microphone. Click on "Options" to display a menu.



Click on "Lock Talk" to open your microphone.



Now click on the gray circle to the left of "Archive : Stopped"




and then click "OK".




You will get voice confirmation that the archiving has begun and
the window will show that archiving is in progress.
You now have a live microphone!



Make your presentation by stepping through your Powerpoint slides and
giving approprate "voice over" descriptions of the slides' contents.


When your presentation is complete, click on the red circle to the left of "Archive : Started".



Then click "OK" to terminate the presentation.




The lower left-hand window will display the name under which your presentation has been stored.




Exit the "Live Classroom" (do not just "Close" the window).




The WebCT main page for TEPM 6391 presentations will now contain a link to the new presentation.




Click on "Enter" to view the presentation.
