Welcome

Fatima Merchant is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Engineering Technology at the University of Houston. She joined the department in 2008 and her research interests are in the areas of computational cytogenetics, angiogenesis and revascularization, multi-dimensional image cytometry, and cancer diagnostics.

Over the past 15 years, her research has addressed significant issues in cellular engineering and medicine, specifically in the following fields: (1) cell preservation and transplantation, (2) cellular injury and therapy, (3) cell membrane permeabilization and drug delivery, and (4) clinical molecular cytogenetics. Her research efforts have a broad and diverse biotechnological base both in the perspective of basic science and/or practical application, which allows her to positively participate in the development of the new biotechnology program at the College of Technology.
