University of Houston members of the Association of IT Professionals (AITP) Student Chapter earned multiple awards at the 2012 AITP Region 3 Student Conference held at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette on October 11th to 13th. More than 200 students representing 20 different universities from six states attended the annually held conference.

The University of Houston also received the third Highest Overall University Award. The award is based on the overall contest results of the universities in attendance. This is the fourth year in a row that the university has been recognized as one of the top three overall universities competing at the annual student conference. In addition to competing in eight various academic competitions, the group of 21 UH students also earned multiple Microsoft certifications. The students got the opportunity to interview for internships and full-time jobs with the corporations assisting and participating in the AITP Student Conference.
"I am extremely proud of how well our students performed in the competitions and represented the College and UH. This is a testament to the value of the education provided by the Computer Information Systems faculty," said Bret Detillier, CIS Program Coordinator / Instructional Assistant Professor, and faculty advisor for the UH AITP Student Chapter.
